PrefEdit
PrefEdit is a utility for changing program settings by editing their plist-files.
PrefEdit is a unique application for viewing and editing hidden system settings and Mac OS X applications, including plist files. To facilitate editing tasks, the application provides full-text search by any criteria. The built-in browser allows you to easily navigate through the files and their settings, and the search function helps you quickly find the right value in the file. Older Mac applications designed for earlier versions of Mac OS X cannot be presented in App because they have a different storage system.
IMPORTANT: If you’re editing any data from Mac OS X system or other applications, you should be clear about what you’re doing, as incorrect values in some settings can lead to serious system or application failures, which in turn can lead to data loss!
Whats new:
- Added full support for macOS 10.15 Catalina.
- Legacy technology has been removed from the App. The new minimum operating system is macOS 10.12 Sierra.
- The user interface to copy a preference setting from the effective search path to an application-specific scope has been redesigned, offering more guidance to unexperienced users.
